Q1. Please tell us why you chose "beautiful girls" as the theme for this solo exhibition.
A.⇒This is a very personal thing, but I really love beautiful girls. When I see beautiful girls, I feel glad to be alive.
At times like that I feel a strong desire to create a beautiful girl, but behind that is a hidden desire to control that beautiful girl.
As a person like me, I feel embarrassed but at the same time, I feel that creating things honestly in accordance with my desires will become a source of pressure for my work, so I create works with beautiful girls as my theme.

Q2. What made you decide to make ball-jointed dolls?
A. -> I once purchased a hobby doll, and when I put on the makeup, put it together, and held it in my arms for the first time, I was so touched and felt so much love for it that I was shocked. That experience was what got me started.
Also, unlike sculptures, ball-jointed dolls have movable joints. You can pose them however you like. That's a big factor, as it links to my desires mentioned above.

Q3. How long did it take you to create your first doll?
Also, what difficulties did you face?
A: About 3 months.
Creating a three-dimensional object was my first challenge, so everything was a process of trial and error.
However, it was a lot of fun moving my hands while thinking only about the beautiful girl herself.

Q4. What were some of the things you paid particular attention to when making the doll?
A.-> I wanted to make it cute and beautiful, but I was also careful to make sure it had a Japanese look.
I was conscious of creating a doll that would give the feeling that it was really there, rather than a being that was far removed from me.
Q5. What materials were used to make the dolls and what are their characteristics?
A.⇒I use Padico's Ladol stone-based plasticine.
It is a standard material for making dolls, and can be piled up or sculpted.

Q6. When you create beautiful girl works such as paintings or dolls, are there any characters or people you use as models?
A. Generally, there aren't any, but the piece in the image above is based on Rei Ayanami from Neon Genesis Evangelion.
The first beautiful girl I fell in love with was Rei Ayanami, and it would not be an exaggeration to say she was my first love. I still search for her in various landscapes in this work.
Q7. Is there anyone who has influenced you in creating art?
A. There are so many to list, but Murakami Takashi's presence is huge.
I also really like the musician Kenichi Asai, and although it may not show on the surface, I am greatly influenced by his worldview.

Q8. What kind of work would you like to challenge yourself with in the future?
A: I would like to create a work that more clearly expresses the beauty of beautiful girls.
Like the girls drawn by Nara Yoshitomo, it makes you feel as if they are really there, staring right at you.

Q9. Finally, if you have any messages, please share them with us.
A: Thank you for reading to the end!
We will continue to create even more cute girls, so if you are interested, please check out our website.

Thank you very much, Yoshi Yataro, for taking the time out of your busy schedule to participate in this interview!
The solo exhibition "Creating Beautiful Girls" will be held until tomorrow, June 6th (Sat).
